This study consisted of an asset inventory and gap analysis of the existing economic development framework in Waterloo Region, Canada. The consultant team conducted an extensive stakeholder consultation exercise and a study of economic development best practices to recommend an economic development framework that would improve inefficiencies, address gaps, and would better position Waterloo Region to encourage strong and strategic investment attraction.
The study also addressed how best to optimize the use of current and future employment areas and industrial lands to achieve regional and local economic objectives as well as the institutional framework that would best realize the region’s potential.
